I got it off of the HP website and confirmed it via the HP support app that was downloaded with the printer driver.

I'll check with my tec guy, we take over thousands of printers every year. HP by far give us the most issues.

If you got it off the legit HP website, then I wouldn't think you need to worry about them installing anything on your computer. Making a backup is always a good idea.
