I've seen a lot of posts about adding Curtis Johnson to the staff, but I for one wouldn't mind keeping DC. I always felt that the reason we brought DC in was to break into Alabama even when Les was here.
The reason Alabama can recruit all across the country is not only because they win, it's also because they know they really have no competition for talent instate. Sure Auburn will get their couple, but the bulk of the top players in bama goto bama. 2017 Bama recruits
Auburn relys to heavily on Georgia because of proximity and even they lose 5 stars that go to Auburn High School to the Gumps. DC is one of the best recruiters in the state of Alabama, his first full year with LSU we have two commits from Alabama and are in on two top receivers from Alabama. Sure we don't have the big name out of Bama yet, but 2018 I feel is going to be the year we really lay in roads in Bama with guys like Tank Jenkins and make them defend their state for once. Tank Jenkins Profile
Sure Curtis Johnson would be a huge upgrade on field, but may hurt recruiting wise so I'm all for keeping DC if he wants to be here.

And let him do what? If you want Johnson as receivers coach, what do you want to do with Craig?
Posted on 1/27/17 at 8:03 pm to Fratigerguy
I never said I wanted Johnson especially if it means Craig has to go if we can get both cool ,but right now we have guys that recruit in places that we normally don't pull from like Tennessee and Bama and I kind of like it

QB coach/Recruiting coordinator if the extra field coach gets approved

I wouldn't mind that especially since he and Lowell are so close and it's probably a little more natural for him to teach

This right here. If he helped our QBs improve, it could help him take the next step to becoming an OC somewhere. It would be a good move for us and for him.

I'm operating under the assumption that if we get Johnson, DC is being shifted to another position

or he's taking that OC position at Oregon after all, but it damn sure says Curtis Johnson is the new LSU WR coach on wiki. Lol

He appeared to be doing a pretty decent job, but not good enough in the eyes of CEO.
I'm sure CEO had good reason to fire him and reassign Jabbar Jaluke today.
I have a lot of confidence CEO will find and hire some very good coaches in areas of need to complete the great staff already here.

I don't know if this means anything, but here is what it says in Wikipedia:
Curtis Johnson, Jr. (born November 5, 1961) is an American football coach who currently serves as the wide receivers coach for the LSU Tigers. His prior position was the wide receivers coach for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) from 2016-2017. He was the head coach at Tulane University from 2012 to 2015, a position he assumed in December 2011 after six seasons coaching wide receivers for the New Orleans Saints.

I worked as a member of Tulane's equipment staff CJ's last year there. Trust me, he's a great coach, can recruit NO extremely well, and is one hell of a person. He also has a pretty decent group of coaches that he knows. He'd be a great pick up for LSU. Go look at the guys he recruited to The U, you'll get excited.

Alabama has a 25 man class right now. Only 6 are from the state of Alabama. The key to their success is not "locking down" their home state. They're winning because they are getting the best players from everyone else's state.
LSU can be a national championship program without ever getting a single player out of the state of Alabama. Contrary to popular belief, the state of Alabama is not some football Shangri-la. Hell, per capita, Louisiana has more great players. Why do you think this year's Bama class has almost as many players from Louisiana as players from Alabama?
A roster full of great Alabama players isn't what's making that program great. LSU taking one are two players from there doesn't mean shite when Saban is taking 5-6 from Louisiana

If you look at the link I provided you will see those 6 are top 10 in state and about to become 8 after ruggs and Ray commit
