With Tyler Taylor looking more and more likely I am at ease with Gay's ultimate decision.
After all, he did lead the way in securing a commitment in Phillips. That alone, makes me love Willie. I'd still have all the respect for him if he truly loved LSU but, didn't want to leave his hometown.

He could have just called to tell him.
Is it possible that he told mamma he wants to go to LSU? mamma did not like it. Momma brings him to Mullen so he convince Gay to stay at State?
If he really wants to go to LSU and he ends up at State, he will be miserable for a while wondering "What could have been?"

He wanted to tell them in person.Gay grew up a State fan and his mother is a die-hard State fan.I posted for a couple of months now that some of our fans are getting their hopes up way too high on Willie.
I'd love to have Willie but we are going to have a very good LB class no matter what.The kid is going where he wanted to go.

This explains why LSU had no in-home visit with Gay. Hope all works out for him. I definitely appreciate him recruiting Phillips for LSU.

Already posted about this.He wanted to get some perks from Barney Farrar.Willie has already turned a few things into the NCAA,so I suspect his name will be brought up in the next letter Ole Miss gets.

Willie is a very good kid and he did like LSU a lot but he has been a fan of State for a long time and with his mom wanting him at State and with them living in Starkville it was just too much for Coach O to overcome.
You can't hold this against Coach O.We are going to have a very good LB class.

It does suck but I commend the young man to go to his state school. I don't know if State will ever get to be Top Dawg in the SEC but he is certainly a difference maker. I few more players like him and who knows what state could be. Not to mention the tremendous economic windfall for the school and state (see Alabama).
I know LSU recruits nationally, but LA recruits take notice. Shiny ring is not always gold.
