It's like your retarded. The only one of those that would work is Bitcoin.
Even if 100% of Mexicans used Bitcoin guess who would be losing about $3B in tax revenue from remittances? The Mexican Government. They take that kind of hit and they will come back to discuss their payment terms

I think you are severely underestimating the chicklets market in Mexico.

It never fails
I've made a habit of not insulting someone's intelligence in part due to the inevitable irony displayed in my post, it's always the safer option.

Crime is a big problem in Mexico. You think illegal immigrants are going to risk traversing the border especially now that Trump is El Presidente?

Just as easy to tax those transfers if desirable.

Good luck getting Bitcoin and then converting it once you're in Mexico.

Transfer money to offshore account and then to Mexico
As long as the tax is less than double wiring, people won't do this. Also, you'd need an offshore account. Mexican laborers aren't exactly international bankers.

I wasn't aware that the Mexican government taxes remittances. When I send money from and to Canada, I'm never hit with a tax bill. The only hit I take on the amount is just the wire transfer fee and the unfavorable exchange rates that the banks use.

A Mexican worker can open a Chase account in the US, mail the debit card to Mexico, and draw cash out of an ATM in Mexico.I just got cash out of an ATM in Mexico City last month.

Look at the penetration figures of smartphones to the rural poor which are the people that mostly rely on these remittances.

That's an awfully good way to alert ICE to your presence in the states. Just saying.

A lot of this remittance money is from legal workers, no?
There are a million ways around the tax. You know I'm right. No one is going to pay a 25% tax. It's just not gonna happen.

Some of it undoubtedly is. Not all legal statuses are created equal, however. Also, many, many of the remittances are made by illegal laborers, or laborers whose presence in this country was once legal, but no longer is.

it's very easy to make these things very illegal
fedgov didn't kill online poker by making it illegal. they killed it by making banks processing the money illegal

Certainly you understand the black market and how it works. We've had bootleggers, cocaine cowboys, gun runners, etc, etc. if people want to avoid the remittances, a new economy will take root to make it happen. It's inevitable.

Well that's a poor case because most Mexican workers aren't getting cash advances because it's a bad deal.
