Glock was beat out by Sig Sauer to replace Berreta as the Army's service pistol. I'm going to have to pick one up now.

How often are infantrymen issued handguns nowadays anyway? I'm guessing these will be used mostly by security forces.

I still swear by my Glock 22.

It's a polymer frame.. Around 26 ounces.. A Glock 19 is around 24, so very comparable.

Sweet handgun. I tragically lost one in a boating accident.

Tankers are each issued a pistol as our side arm. I just missed the M1911 by a year or two. By my time we got the M9 Barretta 9mm. I loved the M9.
I read about this yesterday and found it interesting they didn't say what version of the P320 they'll be going with. Will they stay with the 9mm like we had on the M9 or will they change back to a .45?

I heard you helped coin the phrase "suck start a shotgun." Is that true?

Just by a bit, though.

Serious doctrinal question here: what purpose does a handgun serve in combat besides as a backup? I could see them being issued by tankers, pilots, etc for self-defense but an infantryman would be able to carry more rifle ammunition instead of carrying a pistol and its subsequent ammunition.
