Should've banjoed the coverage and that play is dead before it starts.

Because with all the defenders on the ground, Watson runs in easy

I would like to think that if Bama was going to run a "tackle the receivers" play, they are gonna position their LBs to cover the edge/play contain. You've got 5 dbs for 5 wrs, you've got 2 free LBs. Sure on the actual play that happened, Watson walks in easy if Brown and Hump both tackle their guys. But they didn't. Because that wasn't the defensive play call.

Nick saban is old school. Doesn't believe in that

Some of you people just don't know football.
This is the correct answer and it has 15 down votes

Tackling the receivers and getting the penalty is basically the football equivalent of fouling in basketball while up 2 points. Yes, Clemson would get another play, but it would have been their final play and perhaps they decide to kick the FG. By letting the play go without a foul, they allowed Clemson a chance to win it there and still gave them the out to kick the FG if that play failed.
They should have nixed the play from jump street and forced Clemson to either take the FG or go for the win. It had nothing to do with "playing not to lose" because Clemson still had time to kick the FG if the pass would have fallen incomplete.
Saban and Alabama fricked up. It is what it is.

they won ... bama fans are over it ... perhaps the rest of the football world should follow suit ...

I love these kind of posts it really shows who the idiots are, congrats mick and Jody
I think unless there is a rule change we'll start seeing coaches start doing this more in the future. Ravens already executed it to perfection early this year it's only a matter of time before other teams catch on

Hello, Mr. IDIOT...
The Ravens had the ball and tackled defenders to run out the clock on a punt, game can end on offensive penalty. Ravens win, Good strategy.
Alabama on Defense vs Ravens on Offense= zzgobucky being the IDIOT.

What's sort of lost in this...
Is that it appears Bama did everything possible to commit a penalty on the final play.
The CB just couldn't wrangle the Clemson guy who squirted around his attempted takedown...after the other receiver was held blocking his path.

add this dipshit to the list.
I get the difference, everyone knows the game/half can't end on a defensive penalty. I'm talking about the concept off intentionally holding the other team, whether it be on offense to run off clock and end the game or defense to run off clock so the offense can only run one more play with clock at zero

The only dipshits are people like you and others to remotely think this would be a good plan of action, in the biggest game of the year. Just think if Alabama did this and Clemson still scores, that would be a bigger fall out than if Alabama does it and works.
Ok, so Alabama and The Ravens are in the same "concept"
one is one offense and about to win with a holding penalty and one is about to extend the game with a holding penalty, but I'm the dipshit.

The Bama DB was holding on the WR like his life depended on it.

If Bamas outside corner stoned the WR at the LOS like Brandon Browner stoned the Seahawks WR the Bama slot corner would of had an angle to make a play
