E-tech work

Anyone know of a good outboard mechanic that works on E-techs. I know that most mechanics will work on all, but the E-techs have the computer software that if the mechanic has it will narrow down what is wrong. Hopefully that saves some money on labor and trial and error.

I cant help but good luck. Make sure the guy knows what he is doing. My mechanic at work hates working on them. If the plugs arent turned to a specific degree the motor wont fire.

Where are you located? We use Rookie Boats in Bay St. Louis if you are east of new orleans. Kevin Gaspard, top notch. He's got our boat right now doing yearly maintenance.

honestly, E-tecs are the devil. You have to hook up and reset with computer constantly once troubles start. Avg price of 50 to 100 bucks at most places. that can get expensive fast. Best bet is move to a more user friendly outboard or by your own diagnostic machine. about $450

I haven't used them personally, but Premier Performance Marine in Prairieville works on Them. I started seeing Rangers with E-Techs at Cabelas so I'm sure they work on them also.
That's the only ones I know of in the Baton Rouge area.

Fortier in new Iberia. Good people. Not sure if the old man is still alive. I bought a 25 from him a few years ago. He was very laid back, real nice. His son worked there so I'm assuming he's still running it. They specialize in evinrudes. I was really please with my 25. Another boat I regret selling.
