Baez was nearly a 3 win player last year in 450 plate appearances. He offers premium defense and power potential. If everything clicks, then he could be a star.
Baez De Leon+ may have happened last year, but Baez's stock is way up and JDL went down.

I don't see the cubs letting Baez go, although his trade value could be at it's peak right now. Baez is very young and has the potential to turn into a Jeter/ Arod type of career. This year will either be boom or bat for him most likely. He mostly likely continues to improve, but could also easily slump.
The cubs have a long history of under performing young pitchers. They either get hurt or the cubs trade them right before they peak. While young pitchers values are very high their risk is also. At least with Baez you got a guy that can play defense for years and possibly offer some back of the order power for years.

quote:in what way did JDL's stock go down? 17 innings at the major league level doesnt really do anything for ones stock
but Baez's stock is way up and JDL went down.
