No doubt plastic is more impervious to water but a treated wood gunstock will not give you any problem either if you dry your guns after hunts. I have sat in pits with my wood stock standing in brackish water up to the pistol grip. After the hunt I wipe them down and never think twice about it. I worry more about the metal than the wood.

Highcotton I am not sure you have hunted in enough saltwater marshes. It's brutal on guns. I will only take a blued/wood stock in the marsh again for a special reason it's just too hard on them.
The new synthetic stocks and coated barrels that don't rust are just hard to beat in saltwater. I love my model 21 and it's wood stock but saltwater is a different story. As a kid shooting a-5's and shooting 4-5 cases a year through them we would break a stock about every 3-4 years and that was taking care of them.

When I realized that I could interchange most of my Stoeger parts with my SBE II, I bought 2 more Stoeger's.

I'm assuming everywhere as of today. Saw a picture of the first sold unit at Macks Prairie Wings this morning.
