Leah Remini's Scientology documentary on A&E

No thread on here about this show yet, or did I miss something? I assume y'all are watching, if not I suggest it. Comes on every Tuesday night at 9:00 CST.
However, I also learned on 20/20 that she and Mike Rinder get paid to do this show. Does her getting paid to do this, diminish what she is doing? I'm just wondering if some of the stuff said about Scientology is possibly exaggerated. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not defending that "church", I'm just saying.

Why would she not get paid? Besides being in a strong union where she literally has to be paid, why on earth shouldn't she be?

I've been watching. Scientology is so damn weird that it makes the show interesting to learn about all the craziness that goes on. It's crazy how much control over your life they have, and how people get so wrapped up in this cult.

Luckily I've never had a friend or any family members get caught up in that stuff.
I hope they eventually lose that tax exempt status.

Just another lost soul who has temporarily lost site of what's important and is now trying to make a quick dollar off her own shortcomings. She'll be shown for the liar she is soon enough.
People thought evolution and quantum physics were weird too and now they're accepted fact. Some people just advance quicker than others. Do you want to learn more?

I assume you're taking on the persona of a scientologist

Got through episode 1 this past weekend. Been recording it so I'll catch-up soon. She's fkn smokin', is all I've got from it so far.

I wouldn't expect her to do it for free. She and Rinder are putting themselves at risk and are spending valuable time to bring aspects of Scientology to light.
My frustration with the show is that it becomes repetitive. They literally re-air segments every week.
But the more people learn about this, the quicker it can be stopped.
I've found a good podcast where the hosts are actually going through Scientology in order to podcast about it. From the introductory personality tests to courses, etc. it's called "Oh No with Ross and Carrie"
Scientologists like to say you can't trust anything that doesn't come from the church, but I've gotta say, everything I've read, heard, and seen meshes together. It would take a pretty concerted effort for everyone to be on he same page.

The show is okay, but 'Going Clear' is a billion times better.

The forced abortion shite is very disturbing

That David Miscavige fellow is very interesting. To me he's like the real life version of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho.
By the way, no they shouldn't do it for free. I'm just wondering if they are getting paid a super amount of money, it might diminish their credibility to a certain degree.

I've watched the series from the beginning. I never doubted she was being paid for the show nor have I thought that her being paid affected the substance of the show.
I've not know much about Scientology other than thinking it was bizarre and not being able to figure out how it's a religion. I still don't get that part.
I tend to believe the show. I think it's downright scary. What I find interesting is the lack of much denial by the Scientology folks. It's been pretty mundane, in my opinion, or what I've seen on the show and by googling hasn't been nearly as strong as I'd expect if the show was so far off base from the truth. I haven't seen a lawsuit filed against her or A&E, yet.
It would be killer to have a family member caught up in that and to be segregated from family based on the teachings of this outfit.

Great show. Mike Rinder is a very likable dude (as is Remini). Its crazy he was so high up in Scientology.
Going Clear was better but this is more "personal" if that makes sense. Putting faces, names, and testimony of people who have had their families and/or lives ruined out there is very powerful.
He's a modern day Hitler. The dramatic mood swings, orator skills, propaganda machine, etc. I firmly believe if he was around a century ago, he'd be a dictator.
I hope someone puts one in his brain.

Watch the HBO documentary "Going Clear". Mind blowing.

Again, its all true. They are suing her btw. For "inciting hate crimes" against them. They aren't suing for liable or slander because they can't. They just try to discredit her character and sue her for damages from created a public outcry against them.

Yeah, that still does not make sense to me either. There's no deity per se (Save for the crazy Xenu stuff way higher up). There are no worship services. There are just auditing sessions and courses, as far as I know. It's like some weird mixture of a therapy-substitute and unaccredited college.

It was more than disturbing. I'm still upset over seeing that part.
Has Miscavige's wife been photographed or seen any time in the past several years? I'm so curious about that.
