A Monroe, LA woman has been charged with the attempted murder on Saturday morning of a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agent. Senior Agent Tyler Wheeler, 25, also of Monroe, was struck five times by gunfire while performing a traffic stop about 2:06 a.m. in Morehouse Parish. The incident took place in the southbound lane of U.S. 165 in between Sterlington and Bastrop in the Perryville area. Louisiana State Police detectives began investigating the shooting and evidence was quickly discovered that lead to the arrest of Amethyst Baird, 31. She was charged and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of attempted 1st degree murder of a police officer for the shooting.
