So sorry to hear this. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. Great to hear his condition as of now, ( i.e., movement of extremities, response to commands. ) Hope his condition continues to improve.
As far as their duties, I had an Enforcement Agent tell me they ( Enforcement Agents ) have more authority than a state trooper. They are just more cool and laid back. Glad to hear they caught the scumbag POS.

I would think this is because many of the people they deal with are hunters and known to be armed when they have interactions with them.

ETA: Continuing to pray for Tyler. Hope she is charged as an adult and to the fullest extent possible.

I think he showed great restraint considering the situation. It would have been much worse if I was in his situation. Hoping the best for this young man.

Ok. I didn't read every post I was just looking for links(OP link just mentioned the shooting with very little detail). Not trying to discredit anyone, I just wanted to read additional info about the incident.

They need probable cause like any other cop.

Actually, they don't. They can also search any vehicle without consent.

I maybe mistaken but LDWF can come into your home or vehicle without a search warrant...where as other agencies have to aquire a search warrant

Still need probable cause, but does not need a warrant...

off topic ignorant question: why is a LDWF agent engaging in a traffic stop on roads?

Illegal hunting / gunshots heard.

prolly a nighthunter. These guys face real danger, as the people they stop are frequently armed, even though they make fewer stops than LSP. Hopefully his truck had a camera on it.

A female teen night hunting? That would shoot a LEO in the head? Odds are low on that.
