I HATE PALADINS!!!
Blackguards on the other hand are absolute beasts.

Ha!
I was actually considering playing a paladin follower of the Raven Queen if I ever pass the DM torch.
It's all about following the beliefs and motivations of your God. If you pick one with an interesting catechism, it can make for some cool character development.

Everyone always seems to want to play them as self righteous pricks.
Every time someone in my groups made a paladin, I always found a way to get them killed or if they died, I would always refuse to help get them resurrected.

Finished the Lost Mines of Phandelver finally and it was a blast, surprised how much fun it was. Playing a Paladin was legit, I enjoyed being a tank as well as a caster.
We started a new module last night and are in Red Larch.
I'm surprised how much fun this was, looking forward to the adventure.
Anyone playing right now?

Left off at Cragmaw Castle around midnight, Saturday night. Just some old friends I grew up with. Our DM is new to it but is surprisingly very good. I took the generic Rogue that the starter kit came with. Currently sitting at level 3.

Anyone who has played a Paladin, how did you handle them in dungeons.
We have a Rogue in the group that basically takes over during dungeon crawls scoping out every room before we enter and I really have nothing to do until a fight starts. We basically follow in line behind the Rogue and he lets us know when everything is good to proceed going forward.
I really have nothing to do inside a dungeon but fight as a Paladin.
Thoughts?

My group of friends and I have been playing for over 20 years. We use the online site Roll20.net for our sessions. We play once a week for about 2 hours. We have been playing our current campaign Out of the Abyss for about a year now and we are all around 9th level, our typical campaigns last 2-3 years or until the PC get to powerful. We had played 2nd edition for ever and finally switched over to fifth a few years ago when it first came out. I have Dm a ton and played characters so if you have any questions I am more that willing to help out where I can. Glad to see you guys are enjoying the game.

I need some tips on how to role play a Paladin.
I feel like my character is stale.
Any tips on role playing in general?

any roleplaying tip?
I don't think I stick to a certain personality trait enough to make the character unique.
