Dogs can get arthritis and he may be in pain.
But the good thing is, you can give him low doses of aspirin. I'd try something before I'd just give up on Old Yeller.
We have a dogwho his issues like yours, and the aspirin has shown some pluses.

I guess I should have mentioned that he is on an aspirin regimen. He has also been to an animal chiropractor who is famous for working miracles, and that guy eventually said he couldn't move him the other direction anymore. Basically, we have a perfectly healthy dog who can't do anything he likes because of his legs. Such a shitty situation.
