I am looking into joining the connected crowd. A question I have with respect to connected lights, locks, and everything else is how do these work when the power goes out. The Wink hub does not have a battery backup but the Samsung smart hub does, is this a minor issue or should this be a major concern?

They work just like any other electrical device when a home loses power.

You would need battery backup if you have security set up such as door sensors and sirens.
