Thanks for choosing to represent your home state. Many have selective memory and won’t admit now how devastating it would have been had you, the number 1 recruit in America, chosen Alabama over LSU. Most LSU fans celebrated you stating that you wanted to represent your home state, The Boot. Also that you wanted to bring a national championship to your home state, not some other state.

You have represented us well with class and hard work. I noticed during games you never seemed to tire and rarely drank water. A sign of being in terrific shape, based on extremely hard work and dedication put in by you. You became the face of LSU football. Everyone nationally marveled at the great Leonard Fournette. Many now pretend it was no big deal you chose LSU. Had you chosen Alabama, you would have had a national championship or two and possibly a Heisman Trophy or two. Yet some fans now blame you for LSU not having the success of Bama. Some choose to minimize your abilities. They now blame you for the ineffective LSU offense against Bama where you were surrounded by Bama players behind the line of scrimmage on almost every carry against them. But you never complained or showed selfishness by blaming others.

After choosing to play this year while injured, many have turned against you because you chose not to play in the bowl game and claim you quit on your team. What I remember is you playing this year basically on one leg to help your team. I remember you running for 254 yards on just 16 carries on one leg. Yet some inbeciles claim you are not a great back. And that you will not be successful in the NFL. With “fans” like those, who needs enemies?

I have no doubt you know the type fans that turned against you now that you are no longer useful to them at LSU. They denigrate you and devalue you. That element looks at you as an animal, like a race horse. If you come up lame, they have no further use or empathy for you. They don’t realize there are many young football players in Louisiana and nationally who look up to you and notice how LSU fans ended up treating one of their all-time greats. Maybe Cam Akers was one of them. Cook was injured throughout his career, however FSU fans did not turn against him. Maybe Moses and Allen as well. They have witnessed those type fans up close. We all know you were Moses idol.

Continue representing the Boot with the class you have always shown. Overlook the classless fans infecting LSU fandom. They do not represent the majority. I know they do not represent me. I truly hope you do not regret choosing to play for your home team. You have thousands who are thankful you did and will always be in your corner. Good luck in your future NFL career and life in general. May God bless you and your family. Thanks so much! I loved every minute of your career at LSU.

I am very critical of local kids playing the attention game. But I'll never say anything bad about Leonard fournette. He was the #1 player in the nation that went to the #1 school in his state. Respect forever!! Geaux Tigers!!!

Very well written. Agree with everything you said. There will be countless clueless people who down vote you though.

Although we've been blessed with some great young men over the years, I don't recall another that I enjoyed watching play and respect as much as Fournette.

When I allow myself to think about it (and I try not to), it almost makes me queasy that we won't get to see him play for LSU again - he was that electrifying.

I know as a leader and great example he will continue to have a enormous positive effect on the team, no matter where he goes from here.

Much respect and admiration as a LSU Tiger player and as a person.

Couldn't agree more

quote:

Everyone nationally marveled at the great Leonard Fournette.

remember this quote a little later in post.

quote:

Yet some fans now blame you for LSU not having the success of Bama.

Since you are into long post do some research, and list specific fans/posters that actually said this.

quote:

They now blame you for the ineffective LSU offense against Bama where you were surrounded by Bama players behind the line of scrimmage on almost every carry against them

Again, would like to know who this is laying blame, 99.9% of the "fans" knows LSU's passing game effectiveness cost us Alabama games last couple years.

quote:

After choosing to play this year while injured, many have turned against you because you chose not to play in the bowl game and claim you quit on your team.

Turned against him? Really, I thought he was hurt? But he chose not to play? Also signs with an agent, Boy he seems like a real great teammate.

quote:

Yet some inbeciles claim you are not a great back.

Nobody thinks this.

quote:

They denigrate you and devalue you. That element looks at you as an animal,

Get the frick outta here with racist shite

quote:

They do not represent the majority.

No they don't and it's mainstream media or the "national guys" that you speak of not LSU fans, They make there living having a story.

Mr. Fournette seems to be a smart guy, I don't think he needs you here apologizing for the LSU fan base that has supported him from day 1.

ETA: I have been and will be a huge #7 fan, but your post comes off as sour and in poor taste toward LSU fans.

Was in school with guys like Faulk, Collins, and Mealey. None compared to the athleticism of Fournette.

Yet, Fournette wasn't the best ever to wear 7.

LF7 spent the last part of the season injured, and probably played too much towards the end of his season.

People in the media just need something/ANYTHING to talk about.

"LF7 won't play!" has been the biggest bullshite sports story that I've seen in a long time.

With regard to whether LF7 should have stayed with team and traveled to the bowl game. Isn't this a rather personal decision for LF7? Isn't this between LF7 and his coaches?

If the coaches thought that LF7 should have traveled with the team, I think LF7 would have honored the coaches' wishes.

LF7, I surmise, had good reasons for his decision and his decision was probably the correct decision.

I don't see anything about LF7 for any fan or anyone in media to be upset about. LF7 is a great representative of St. Aug, NOLA, LSU and our state.
