How can I improve connection speeds in a rural area

I've had great Internet connection but recently moved and im in a rural area now. I'm trying to use my phones mobile hotspot for service but I was only getting about 500 kbps which is terrible. I tried a bridge connection because when I looked it up this was an option but the connection speed was even worse. Any help would be much appreciated. I'd like something fast enough to stream hbo now and play games online. Tia
Does anyone know how AT&T uverse works

I don't think it reaches where I live now.

Satellite internet isn't strong enough to run the PS4.
I had it growing up and could never play online games.

Yeah and the phone line doesn't run out here or at least not where I can get Internet.

Some of the dedicated mobile hotspots can grab a better signal than your phone can.
At our camp, my ATT phone can barely get 3G, but one of our guys ATT mobile hotspot gets a good 4g signal.
May help if you are on the borderline of an LTE tower or something

Yeah, speeds have improved with satellite, but the big issue is still ping time. The bandwidth could be infinite, but it still takes hundreds of milliseconds to send and receive the signal.
On another subject: My parents are moving to Greensburg in the middle of nowhere. Satellite is their only option. They currently live in another rural area that had wifi service. It was only 1.5mbps, but no cap. My dad has this idea in his head that he's gonna cut the cord (directv bill, rather) and just use streaming devices. I'm finding that satellite services like hughesnet have despicably small caps, like 5-20GB (with a separate night-time data cap, like the days of cell phone plans with minutes). There doesn't seem to be a satellite option conducive to streaming, and I guess that's because there doesn't have to be.

how afr away is dsl or cable internet service? you may be able to make a wireless shot to a neighbor and you can offer to split of pay their bill to allow you to put the radio equipment on their property.
Also, what mobile carriers are available in your area? use cellreception.com tofind the closest towers to your property. you can then use an external antenna to connect to a hotspot if you can get some service. I know sprint had a pretty decent deal $115 for 30gb of data.

The line is about a quarter to half a mile away I'd say. I'd like to look into the thing at the end your talking about. All I'd need is 3 or 4 mbps

Is it open or is there alot of trees blocking the line of sight from your house to where the line is?

I live down in a little dip off the road. There's trees all around my house but there's a good amount of space between my house and the trees because the house I'm in now has a pool in the back so the previous owners cleared it out so leaves wouldn't get in it. I called the people I bought it from though and they said they'd tried satellite before and didn't like it. But Idk how long that been so it could be better now

Im talking about are there trees between your house and the houses where the cable or dsl service is available? Like a clear line of sight?
Satellite is the last option, it is terrible.

Yeah I'd have to take it to the main road then go down the road

If you lived closer this way, I could help you with sat internet options...
Somehow my parents get 10 down with sat internet and they only pay 25/month.

What phone service? I was having trouble with AT&T Wireless at my home address. They sent me a signal enhancer that sits in a window at my house and has to be able to 'see' satellite. Not sure what it's doing, but I went from one bar/no signal to full five bars.

Like he said, if you can get someone to put the equipment on their land... maybe they will if they get free internet. There are several options from Ubiquiti that will beam a signal line of sight. Depending on the density of the trees it may be possible.

I live way off the main road and fire the signal from the modem I put in a shed about 800-1000ft from my house (through trees).
