What is the econ consensus on the necessity of population growth to maintain a good/strong living standard, gdp?

Because on the one hand, you get European and Japanese politicians imploring for increased immigration because the native population is not having many children, yet on the other hand, you have humanitarian experts in africa, india, etc saying that population growth is absolutely terrible for poverty alleviation there, etc.

Here's another question: If indeed population growth is vital for an economy to be healthy and grow stronger, why is there so much animosity towards the poor in america having children?

Technological advancements play a huge role in the relationship between population and economic growth.

More and more atheists the better. There is a great video on YouTube showing the countries with the fewest skeptics. Start there.

By the way, same for the states, imo. Better get your act together states. There will be big losers and winners, very soon as Americans leave for progressive states.

Because they will likely be a financial and sociological burden to society?

The animosity is toward being taxed to pay for them, more specifically poors who don't appear to be trying to better themselves.

Wealth/Education and birth rates are inversely proportional across the globe. Poor idiots have lots more kids than rich educated folks.

What inevitably ends up happening, historically anyway, is the rich subsidize the poor or the poor grow so dissatisfied that they revolt and overwhelm the rich.

Ok, but a large(ish) population is vital for specialization.

we've set up our Social Security system up with the fatal flaw of needing successively larger generations

at the same time technology is doing more and more manual labor

so, we have the double whammy of needing more wage earners but there are less jobs from which to earn the wages

this is not sustainable

And when more and more people are coming into the job market it all points to one thing, slow or stagnant growth.
