The rest of the country (99.9%), lumped together a whole, gave Trump a majority of the popular vote.
This one fact, on it's on standing, demonstrates why the framers of our constitutional form of government, were incredible men who saw into the future and developed a system to prevent the major population centers from overwhelming the will of the less populated.

It doesn't change the fact that that ~30 million people live in those two areas. That's approaching 10% of the total population.
