This is the kind of hyperbole which just makes you look ridiculous. So white audiences are "suffering" because there is a show on a network which they don't have to watch. Holy shite...we are fricked.

he means that local affiliates with low black populations have a tougher time selling ads.

It's not a demographic who is in the market for an RV.

That's for sure. Plus the average millenial is like 29 and makes around 35K/year. Not even close to having the stability or even the desire to buy an RV.

Television in general is dying. Everyone is going to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc... It's cheaper and you can watch what you want when you want.

So Trumpkin, a network cannot branch out towards a new audience base? Because it dies not play well in your trailer park does not mean it does not do what Fox needs the show to do, get viewers.

Make Fox White Again.

Wasn't Arsenio Hall on FOX as well? What I'm getting from the OP is that all shows should be white centric with white leads. Am I wrong here?

Some of these posts are incredible. The op was really speaking more about non white shows flopping in white markets and how FOX doesn't seem to care. Also, yes shows do 0's in markets... Even huge national shows.

Mike and Mike and ESPN radio routinely get scratch or zero ratings in Boston NY, Philly, DC, etc... Major NE markets.

Some of these comments are exactly why people like the Hawks got a ton of flack and shite a couple years ago for saying their Gameday experience was too black and running off white customers...people just being "triggered" for no reason.. They have been brainwashed into knee jerk reactions anytime someone mentions anything pertaining to the truth about how different groups act, think, or what they're interested in

It's just marketing, it's the truth, it has nothing to do with anyone being "racist", it's just the truth and knowing your customer base and not driving away ratings or patrons.

Just my guess, but I don't think Blackish does numbers in upper Wisconsin... On the inverse, I'm guessing Downtown Abbey isn't exactly on the mind of TV viewers in Detroit. Just facts and marketing analysis folks... Nothing wrong with asking the question or analyzing what people like what.

They have probably never sat through an upfront presentation either.

Here is the deal. When you sit through an upfront presentation and see all these new shows being pitched one after the other and they all seem to be targetted toward one demographic it seems to question why that is.

It's not that far fetched, especially for a diary market like I was in, where the ratings are determined by 400 people who fill out a diary once every 3 months. Even more so when you had the ABC affiliate in our market dominate everyone else - even shite tier programming would get a 10 rating. The only time we would beat this ABC affiliate was with Big Bang Theory(both original run and syndication) and sports/specials like award shows. At one point DirecTV and the ABC affiliate got into a disagreement and DirecTV pulled the ABC affiliate and they STILL beat us easily.

Even then Empire followed American Idol and American Idol would get between a 3 and a 5 no problem... then drop to 0 for Empire.

It was known as the FOX model and WB and UPN utilized it to launch their networks as well. FOX came under fire for using the urban audience to build their initial numbers only to abandon them as soon as they were strong enough to reach the young white audiences. The same with WB and UPN. FOX is the first network to go back to the well.

What should Fox do? Tell each affiliate they can run whatever shows they think will get good ratings in their area?

I guess no one watched Fox in its' early years. Shows like In Living Color and Martin helped keep the network afloat, along with the Simpsons and BH90210.
