Hey guys,
I hope everyone's had an enjoyable deer season so far. I've had a number of good hunts. I was fortunate to get a doe on opening weekend and a nice buck this week. I used a Remington XP-100 in 284 Win to harvest both deer. I shot the doe w/ a 145 gr Speer spritzer bullet while the buck went down to a 140 gr Nosler Accubond. The doe dropped on the spot (bullet hit just under the spine). I shot the buck at nearly dark. I didn't want him to run off, so I put the crosshairs on the point of the shoulder. The bullet hit a little behind the shoulder and it ran off, probably a 100 yds or so. The blood trail was good. I'm still surprised he ran that far despite large entrance and exit wounds in the mid chest. Me and my hunting buddy both guessed him at 3.5 years, but according to his teeth, he's only 2.5 yrs. Doubt I'll venture out in the sub-freezing tom, but I'll probably hunt w/ my XP-100 7-08 tom PM.

2.5
If it were possible for him to be 2 I'd guessed that.
But he'll eat good. Nice shot
