I am OK with Gilbert, but his offense trailed on at the end of the year, and the way he would put in his "18 Wheeler Package" in odd situations did not make sense. I personally think that Helfrich is the home-run hire.

Gilbert's biggest weakness is play calling. First year doing it and it showed, especially late in games and late in the year once it was clear that the FR QB was injured and couldn't throw a deep ball to keep Ds honest. But he did a great job with the offense this year for the most part.

I don't like the tempo part (and he used it to the detriment of the D this year) but there's no reason you couldn't run veer and shoot without it.
