LSU is 3-2 right now. SEC play is around the corner and Jones (an Alleva hire) is likely on the hotseat after missing post season play last year.
How do you see the season playing out? Does LSU make the NCAA tourney? What does Jones do to keep his job?
Finally, if Jones is fired, do you trust Alleva to hire his replacement?

They have more wins than that.
The Houston win was pretty good.
Need to run the table on rest of non conf games.
Watching White last night coach against Duke makes me wish we would have hired him.

I don't trust Alleva to breathe, let alone make a hire. That being said...we "missed the postseason" by choice last year. Didn't we? We declined an NIT invite?
who knows what will happen this year.

No way we make the Big dance this year...not by a long shot.
Both bball programs are in such pathetic shape it's not funny, and I was one who went to every game for both teams during 2003-2008.
Both coaches need to be canned and so does alleva.

Wrong
This season will be more mediocrity, but will look like an improvement because less is expected.
JJ must make the tourney to keep his job imo.
I wouldn't trust Alleva to feed my dog that I hate while I'm on vacation.

1. Alleva is clueless and incompetent. He hired JJ because JJ was cheap. JJ remains among the lowest paid HC's in the SEC. JJ's teams regularly beat SEC HC's teams who get paid more than JJ.
2. LSU is NOT going to spend what it would take to get a topnotch HC. LSU would have to luck into a topnotch HC by hiring a great assistant to his first HC job. Alleva does not have the ability or patience to do that, imo. Note: Joe Alleva is a football guy not a basketball guy. He played college football.
3. If JJ can get the Tigers to finish in the top 4 of the SEC like the last two seasons, he will keep his job for another year. That's not a championship program type goal, but LSU does not care to have a championship program in MBB anymore.

LSU needs to find a competent point guard. College basketball is point guard driven.Big men in NCAA Div. 1 out of the power 5 are essentially either endangered species or "projects" Aside from Glen Davis, name me a decent big man that has stayed at LSU more than 2 years in the last 16-17 years

I fat fingered it. Sorry.

We've got some good pieces. The Houston game was encouraging. Not enough to convince me we won't fall into the same traps as previous Johnny Jones teams. I was done with Jones last year but that doesn't really matter now. Gotta see how this season shakes out

Blakeney,Sampson, & Mays are more than adequate on the outside, inside Reath has to stay out of foul trouble, Victor, & Epps, make 2 serviceable forwards

Johnny Obryant was more than decent.
Tasmin Mitchell was more than decent.
Ronald Dupree, Chris Johnson...

If we make the NCAA tourney Id be pretty impressed. I am just expecting NIT play and hopefully we do well in it. Regardless if that keeps jones or not the extra game for the team would be good imo.
Look we got destroyed by Witchita st because the team came out playing with their dicks. Other than that I have really been discouraged or encouraged by anything. And I expect us to be in the middle of the sec. 8-10 wins.
