What's shocking to me is that it took people this long to see what was happening. It was so frustrating to watch LSU football in the last 4 years. Winning or not was not the issue. It was how it was won or lost.

That is the where numbers like some here continue to put up mean nothing. I still don't care how many games Miles led teams won over time or how they look compared to other coaches both at LSU and nationally...his teams underperformed by the strategies he stubbornly put forth.

The way I talked to my kids about grades was that they were A students and if they brought in Cs, that was a failing effort. Miles had A level resources and put forth C level strategies as to not fully utilize those resources. In my eyes, he failed LSU during his tenure.

Agree. We gave him a Ferrari and he didn't change the oil, ran it off the road and everybody who matters knows this. He'll be lucky to get UCF job. So much for his Power 5 job. I just want him to make enough so that he's coaching for free. He's such a great guy and all I'm sure he'll consider LSU by taking just kind of money.......right?

Miles got by on the talent level of the players- we struggled in games we should have beaten the crap out of our opponents; this happened again & again!! Pathetic coaching!! Need I mention his clock management as well!!

I don't think Coach Miles ever really understood his team was capable of far more than just running on antiquated philosophies and talent alone. I think the team knew they were capable of more. I can see clearly in the interim period that CEO, his DC and OC knew they could do more, and it immediately showed. Except for Bama and Florida, LSU was unbeatable, and even so, Bama barely managed to score, and we had a CLM relapse versus UF and that showed, too. Mostly A level play from A level players.

And another real key is this: Conversely, if you have a C level (say 2 or 3 star player) and coach them up to 4 or 5 star performances on the field. If CEO can do that, he'll be doing something CLM never quite perfected in his entire 11+ years at LSU. And LSU will be all the stronger for it.
