If all you are worried about is your EDC pocket knife, then a stone is fine. But if you plan to sharpen your pocket knife, your father's/son's pocket knife, your entire kitchen, your neighbor's kitchen, etc...then get the worksharp.
I asked for a ken onion edition last Christmas and highly recommend it. I've been asked to sharpen dozens of knives that aren't mine over the past year, ranging from pocket to chef to filet knives. I even use it to sharpen mower blades.

I think for a non-powered sharpener, the Edge Pro Apex has to be in consideration - I'd either do that or the Work Sharp.
