this rhetoric implies that football is some sort of currency that can atone for such atrocities

Football, winning, and a personality cult surrounding a football coach is what is blinding people who associate themselves with that university. Actual football coaches were sustaining an organized pedophile ring within the football field house.

So, yes, football should be currency in this situation for all the people that are blinded by it.

Nah. Football sanctions don't heal the children's wounds. Money's a good start. $60million sounds nice.

I don't get how anyone could be a pedo state fan. I wouldn't be an LSU fan if we were raping kids for years

The Penn State scandal involved former coaches and administrators. Why should the players and fans ever have been punished? They weren't even aware of what was occurring and deserve no blame for what occurred. The current team and administration that Penn State fans support are not the ones that were a part of the scandal. What about that is so difficult for some people to understand?

Their fanbase are sick people. they defend and make excuses for the child rapist

What evidence do you have that Paterno molested children? He didn't do enough to stop Sandusky's crimes and protect future victims, but he is not personally responsible for anyone's actions but his own. To call him a rapist is ridiculous. If you had a kid or spouse that committed a heinous crime, and you reported it, but nothing was done, would you deserve to be thought of as badly as your kid or spouse?

Literally every fan base would acted the same way. They would rally around the man that gave them 4+ decades of great football, and have found it hard to believe anything like that could have happened.

Exactly. Penn State fans that appear to show reverence for Paterno are likely just showing appreciation for Paterno's on the field product and actions. I imagine that most Penn State fans would agree that Paterno's off the field inaction wasn't good.

Lol. I grew up in upstate NY along the PA line and that's totally false. I'm not even messing around like I was earlier. These people 100% think he did no wrong. I'd like to say I'm wrong but I'm not. I grew up around these people and lived there when this was going down and a good majority of Penn State fans think JoePa handled the Jerry Sandusky incident very well and that it was no big deal.

no disagreement here.

i was just saying how i felt watching that doc after all was said and done. I stopped watching ESPN after they sat on the topic for 24 hours.

and I mean it became more about Penn st. and less about the kids who were violated. That's one of the reasons why i don't like the media or even social media at times cause the pitchfork crowds (keyboard heroes) usually miss the boat anyway. They spend more time trying to place blame on somebody than they do actually caring about the kids who had their lives ruined.

and that's a god damn shame.

Well the players on this team just want to play football... while what happened there was horrible.... but the players on this team have worked their asses off.... I give them a ton of credit based on what is said about the school......

I get what youre saying but
you can explain any infraction using this argument. Its always the kids on today's football program that gets punished for the transgressions of the past.
