The season is 12 or 13 games long. You're basing your assertion on 9. Doesn't work.

Ohio State has a better record and tougher schedule than both division winners in the B1G. Thus, they are ranked ahead.

No, my assertion is based on the fact that Ohio State has voluntarily made a choice to join the Big Ten, and as such they have agreed to abide by the rules of the league, including how the league champion is determined.

As such, OSU agrees that if that, since they are not in the championship game, the winner of the game is their superior.

That doesn't mean they can't claim to be better than Washington, Oklahoma or Clemson. But it would show a tremendous lack of integrity for the school to accept a bid over the champion of their league.
