ETA: This came off wrong, I meant why care if the woman takes your name or not as long as the kids do. I just want my name carried on through my kids.

I love this. Give it up, honey, you're not a Hollywood star. I'm sure most people would actually appreciate the woman's respect for tradition in seeing the name change. Physicians and to some extent attorneys are insufferable with this. Actually, attorneys give in a little and seem to be serial hyphenators.

This. My wife kept her maiden name as she had a successful veterinary practice for 12 years prior to our marriage. It's never bothered me one bit.
