Well its a bit different considering recruiting is all about relationships. We did just fire BDP, which had to be done. You lose recruits pretty much with any move. Also much different recruiting as interm vs head coach. You can't do much or make many promises as the interm coach. Plus its recruiting, you lose kids. We go out and find one in georgia or such.
fwiw I think we have a great chance of fixing our wall despite the saban relationships, which i believe should be punished. O knows how to recruit and we have great recruiters on staff. We have some unique things to sell and O realizes that les let our wall that was started by Gerry and finished by Saban end up being torn down. We aren't going to fix shite in a day.
I wasn't for this hire, but it is what it is. We struck out on the top two because alleva is a bitch. I wish we had made a national search, let O have a interview and interview others. Then make the call. I don't think we needed to panic. However, we didn't so I'm not going to rail on O for every direction or move.
People have been screaming for BDP to be fired for ages, he finally is and now its omg we fired BDP and lost a kid.
I hated Les and wanted him fired but Joe cutting his legs out from under him last year was complete shite. I believe in letting people fail on their own merits not trying to tie their hands up and then drown them. It isn't productive for anyone. Now we have our own fans pissed at the hire and wanting to complain and tie O down on every single thing

I agree its not good, but since its recruiting its about relationships being formed and about things that happened this year, and last year.
If we would have had Aranda for two years instead of one thanks to Joe then who knows where we stand with these kids.

The 2012 regular season Bama game was program changing game. Sure the national championship was bad, but if we had beat them the next year at home like we clearly should have, it would have evened things back up and shut up the Bama love. But instead it has only snowballed since the NC game. Gotta beat them to stop the bleeding. Nothing else will.

Look, I hope the guy enjoys tremendous success at LSU. In the SEC, great football teams are critical to the success of the university as a whole. It's what drives alumni support for the school and allows the school to attract out of state students which pay higher tuition making school more affordable for the locals. You have to look no further than Florida and Alabama for evidence of that fact. LSU is currently the 135th ranked university in the country. That's lowers the prestige of the degrees of graduates entering the workforce and is an embarrassment to the alumni who might consider sending their children to LSU. The new football coach needs to be held to the highest standards of excellence in terms of running a clean program and winning football games, because it's important for much more than just football. I'm leery when I already see people making excuses acting like the guy just parachuted onto campus and is learning his way around. If O is what he, Alleva and the administration promise, then LSU better have two of the best coordinators in the country and a recruiting class ranked among the best in the country. LSU also needs to win its bowl game and be in the playoff hunt next season. No excuses.
