They were both praising O but one of them said he didn't get why they rushed to sign him today and not look at some other coaches first. Mentioned MacIntyre and Fleck.
"Herman nope, ok we better rush to sign up O before someone else does!"
Joe Alleva needs to get fired.

The answer: JA got mad about Herman wanting to negotiate with Texas.
It's not like other schools were beating down the door to snag Coach O

The idea that we're hearing it's in the $3mm-$4mm range for 5 years is just as bad. 5 years for $15mm would be the most acceptable then.
Seriously, nobody was going to sign O as a HC in the P5. His salary should be at most $2.5mm-$3mm.

Exactly. Alleva had two months to initiate a search and hire a true championship quality coach to finally bring LSU where it needs to be. Everything was finally in place, and he basically didn't even try. That does, however, fall in line with his history.

Alleva rushed because he was pissed and wanted to undercut Herman's negotiating leverage with Texas. Yes, Joe is so petty he saved UT about 1 mil/year.

To me, I don't think LSU was getting Herman even if we offered $5mm or more. Texas would match and Herman obviously wanted to go there. Part of me likes (and I hate to admit it) that JA told TH take a hike and probably lost Herman at least $1mm a year. But being sad from that doesn't mean you rush to hire O. Ed would be there waiting next week, guaranteed

There's a lot of people from Duke who know this. He's a POS. I have always been embarrassed LSU would hire that guy after ruining so many lives.
Jones, the debacle from not firing Miles, and now hiring O like he was a hot commodity are unacceptable.

Fire the current coach 4 games into the season, do little or nothing for months, then make inquiries about 2 candidates in the last 2 weeks of the regular season - even though you aren't willing to pay them enough to actually get them - and then rush to pull the interim tag off your 'new' head coach before those 2 candidates announce they are going elsewhere/staying where they are at a few hours before the last game of the regular season and before anyone else might be available.
That's ninja right there.
