Shame. Was really hoping he'd do well. Now nobody in a big league will touch an American manager for ages.

I'm only 20, and I would be very surprised if I ever see an American coach manage a non-relegation fodder club in a big league in my lifetime. There is just too much prejudice against Americans in general in the soccer community. Even if Bob Bradley were a tactical genius, capable of managing any club in the world, he would likely never get the chance. Our players go through the same struggle to prove themselves.

I was astonished when I visited Europe how the people there pretty much refused to talk with me about soccer/football once they knew I was American, like I was incapable of holding that conversation, despite me holding a USSF E license. That attitude that Americans don't deserve a seat at the big boy table is prevalent by worldwide football fans and FIFA administrators, as well. The entire rest of the world is opposed to us being successful at this sport, and the only reason FIFA wants to grow the game here is because they see a massive untapped market that will make them billions annually. Just read the comment section of any US Soccer video and you'll see a tremendous amount of hatred towards us.

that is spot on

a bigger fear is that we become successful by doing it outside of their box

if we came up with some outside the box revolutionary system, FIFA would do everything it could to hurt that system. we'd never be allowed to be Brazil or the Netherlands and bring something new to the table

This. It's hilarious and sad. But when we start kicking arse on the international stage, which will start happening sooner than the world would like to admit, it is going to be oh so sweet to drink their tears.
