First, it was time for Miles to go, period (.) How Many thought Saban was a 'homerun' when he was hired? Miles?

No one the frick knows how it will turn out with O - No. The. frick. One.

O is well-credentialed and his football/coaching pedigree is outstanding: played on the same Northwestern State team with the likes of Hebert, Reasons, Duper, and Bertrand (he's a buddy of mine so I threw him in just in case he sees this) and coached under Hatfield, Johnson, Pasqualoni, Carroll, and Payton.

Not only is that an impressive-fricking-list of mentors, his years with those coaches included teams that won a boatload of things like conference and national titles, not to mention many winning records, big time games, and bowls.

He has an intangible benefit of understanding on a visceral level the meaning and importance of LSU football to the state and to its fans.

Further, he has notched plenty of time in the head coach position and, at this point in his life and career, demonstrated perhaps the most difficult and important factor in any human's development: the ability to learn from his mistakes (and presumably, others') and grow.

If anyone thinks he has a candidate resume that doesn't compare respectably with most any legitimate candidate then, with all due respect, I think you're stupid, dumb asses.

It's a perfectly reasonable hire when factoring all angles -including exigency, budget, and actual candidate availability (as opposed to wish-lists or faux-candidates angling to leverage their own deals).

We in the great LSU family, proud wearers of purple and gold (unlike those who wear the hideous-colored jerseys of the red team) should just cool down and give O a chance.

Short Version: Not a bad hire and I hope like hell it turns out good!

So none of O's positives are, you know, quantifiable?? O has an impressive list of mentors, but not one gave a shot at coordinating a defense??

How did he demonstrate he learned from any mistakes?? He walked into situations in which he was set up to succeed.. and in both situations that's objective as he didn't really excel in either position.

Of course he doesn't compare to favorably to any candidate. His entire sales pitch is called "building a championship program". He has absolutely no experience building a somewhat successful one.
