I see. My folks still live in BR and I've heard from them that it's pretty much a lose/lose situation when it comes to the mayor's race.

230 per protest and imprisonment doesn't seem like much of a living.
You should go to law school and start representing protesters... apparently that's the way to go.
This is what I was thinking. All that headache and we, as a city, end up paying some piece of shite lawyers $78,840. I'd rather not see the money paid at all, but I'd prefer seeing it burnt than handed over to some opportunistic piece of shite with a law degree.

Quick question, it's been nine months since February so my black history is a little fuzzy. Did Malcolm and King typically sue municipalities after their protests?

Metro Councilman John Delgado was furious about the settlement payout, and was one of two on the 12-member body to vote against approving it.
"To me, this encourages that type of behavior to happen in the future," Delgado said. "I have no interest in paying $100,000 in taxpayer dollars to people who are coming into our city to protest."
Truth.

Who else voted against it? I'm not a fan of Delgado, but I'm glad he spoke up. If I lived in a district represented by one of those who voted for the settlement, I'd be pissed as hell. Talk about a waste of taxpayer dollars.

I am so sick of lawyers citing the "it's cheaper to settle than to fight it" argument. Settling just encourages the next BS lawsuit and the one after that. Totaled, I don't believe settling out is cheaper. We should have the reputation that we will fight tooth and nail on every lawsuit. I would rather pay out big on the few legit ones than pay out small over and over again.

get ready for more payouts when the DOJ comes back with the decision not to charge the cops
Posted on 11/23/16 at 10:58 am to Jack Bauer7
Nah, cops will be ordered to take a hands off approach and the ferals will burn places to the ground then a few business owners will take things into their own hands and they will be the only ones getting charged for anything when all is said and done.

She's all up in Gary Chambers FB as well. They actually dislike Marcelle
Marcelle was at the store protesting (making sure she was caught on camera)
Broome was on the front lines with Gary at police headquarters

In the matter of Mckesson's lawsuit against the city, Delgado and Councilman Scott Wilson voted against settling the suit and doling out $25,000 from the city-parish.
Council members Chandler Loupe, Trae Welch, Chauna Banks, Erika Green, Donna Collins-Lewis, LaMont Cole, Joel Boé and Tara Wicker voted to approve it.
Ryan Heck did not vote and Buddy Amoroso was absent from the meeting.

How many of these idiots just got re-elected? It's a shame that for people like this, everything is about race.

Yikes! With Sharon leading this group, I don't expect a lot of progress for BR in the immediate future.
