I would also bet that nobody had a gas detector either. Hell when I worked in there they didn't require h2s monitors and that was 4 years ago

If they didn't require h2s monitors, that means there's probably no need for one (the process of the unit may not have anything to do with h2s). Explosimeters (gas detectors) are a different story. Depending on what type of hot work is being performed, may need one on at all times running continuously. Also gives you the 02 concentration level as well.

That's curious, as when I worked a turnaround about 6 years ago, I had to have an H2S monitor.
