I'll rank them in this order
1. Good marriage
2. Single life
3. Drowning
4. Burned alive
5. Other elaborate torture
6. Death
7. Bad marriage
So obviously people's opinion will differ depending on their marital experience.

With respect to #7 - yes. Being in a bad marriage almost feels like a total waste of time - and like being gut punched every day. We're not meant to be unhappy people - it's in our nature to be happy, so and unhappy marriage leads to an unhappy life. I know - been there.

The problem with marriage is nobody unless they are complete idiots is going into it thinking its going to be bad..They are in love and its sooo incredible.. but Nobody stays the same after being together every damn day for 20+ years..
in my business I deal with clients all the time who are in their 70s still married but live in separate homes. They hate each other but don't want to deal with a divorce at their age.

Very well-stated. It's all about your personal experience- if you are married to a hag no doubt there are regrets and if married to a great partner all is good. If single and still pulling attractive, quality women there's nothing better in my book. Personally, I love being single and can't fathom being married but I have plenty of married friends who are very happy and have no regrets.
