Live Action Anime movies

With GITS coming out I began to think of other live action anime properties that I think could be successes and I thought of all the most popular animes: Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, One Piece, even Pokemon. Do you think that a good live action movie or movies could be made from any big anime properties and if so which ones. If not what do you think the big challenges are?

There is a live action Death Note is production right now and live action version of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is planned, though that will be in Japanese. Most of these stories are just too weird for mainstream American audiences.

They've all been disasters as far as I'm aware. They first off always try to white wash it, but that's the least of their problems. It's really just shitty producers know it has brand recognition, read a Wikipedia summary, write out a plot outline, and gets no one who understand and loves the property involved. They've been disasters for this reason, not to mention it's often hard to translate the classy animation with live action.

Dragon Ball Z, Naruto,
I think the budget for these kind of movies would have to be pretty large. The fight scenes between Superman and Zod gave me hope as it reminded me of a DBZ fight scene. I went and looked at the budget for that terrible live action DBZ and it was $30m while Superman was $225m.

I have yet to see one good anime movie translate into a good live action movie. A DBZ movie would be incredibly tough without making it look awkward. Goku's and Vegeta's hair would look incredibly goofy, Piccolo would look terrible, Saiyans turning into apes would be terrible, and the Saiyan armor would look awful.
All the ones you mentioned I just don't see them working. The biggest problem would be cost because there would need to be an enormous amount of cgi and in the overall scheme I just don't think there's enough money to be made. The other big problem is these animes usually have a long story and to try to cram that into 2 hours would disappoint the fans of the series and new viewers wouldn't think much of it. The only one that comes to mind that they might be able to pull off is Trigun.

Do you want me to nerd rage about that abortion of a movie they put out.
There's a fan film on YouTube that's absolutely amazing and proves it could be a smash success if done right.
here it is.
