quote:yeah but we'll go cheap because there's no money for football assistants.
Sources said that steep figure would not deter LSU from hiring Fisher as the program is preparing to invest heavily in the pursuit of national championships.

Multiple coaches who have worked for, or with, Fisher said it's highly likely he would take the job if LSU meets his salary demands and gives him a long-term deal.
The administration better not screw this up.
Pay the money and get this done.
Also, this quote is quite revealing -
quote:
Alleva is said to be targeting the end of this month to the early part of December in announcing his decision,
This indicates we have someone locked up. We wouldn't be discussing announcement dates if there was any uncertainty as to who the next coach would be.

this is going to be one interesting finish. no matter who gets the job, there are going to be some hard feeling amongst the fans and coaches too.

I am starting to feel a little more confident that Alleva may be in control of things.

If the statement below is true then there is no way it can be Orgeron.

Orgeron's fate might hinge on his ability to lure a top offensive coordinator to Baton Rouge to join his staff if he were hired. "He would have to have the right guy lined up, or there will be a lot of resistance from influential people," according to a source briefed on the search.
I definitely prefer Fisher but this indicates that Orgeron would have to have a top OC lined up.

Mike Gundy needs serious consideration too. The guy Cam Cameron missed out on, Mason Rudolph, is now 5th in the country in pass yards per game with 24 TDs to 4 ints. He passed for nearly 3800 yards and 21 TDs splitting time at QB last year.
Pair Gundy with Aranda, and you have a championship level team in year 2.
