How Sting got his name

I was listening to his interview on Stern and Sting said, in the very early days, he wore a shirt with black and yellow. Some one said "hey Sting"
The name stuck, his friends would call his house, ask for Sting. Then his mom began to call him that

didn't he back up billy ocean or someone like that? I seem to remember hearing that he wore the black and yellow striped shirt and looked like a bee while part of that band so someone called him sting.

His Momma named him Gordon, I'mma call him Gordon.

When you are lucky enough to be named Gordon Sumner, you will accept any nickname available. Skidmark would have been an improvement.
