Cons of not titling ATV

I bought an ATV from a relative and am debating on whether or not to title it. I hear a lot of people purchasing out of state to avoid taxes. Only benefit of not titling is saving on taxes. What are the cons of not titling it?

Depends on where you live and hunt, but in LA it's not that big of a deal. Not sure about other states. I've owned 7 ATVS and have never switched the title to my name on any of them. Actually I've only had the title for a handful of them period. I just run the Vin# through state police database to make sure it's clean.

Thanks guys. I've never sold/traded one without the title, so I wanted to explore other's thoughts. I have the title which is signed and notarized.

If you ever want to hunt on public land you need a permit which requires registration. Which requires titling

There is no requirement that ATVs on public land be titled or registered.

Probably won't ever be able to use it on public, as they will probably never allow a 1000s specifications.

I think the taxes may be around 500, so I may go ahead and title it.

I would think it'd be more difficult to file a police report and track it down if stolen. Also probably cant insure it if you wanted to. Idk about that tho, I could be wrong?
I don't have a title or registration for mine. Just a bill of sale.

No shite? I remember having to get a permit for WMA somewhere. But I'm old so this may have been done away with 20 years ago.

I may be looking at it wrong. We have the title which has been notarized, the registration is when they would tax me.
