I caught parts of the exhibition 2 days ago but not all.

Those that saw it, who would you project as 2 deep lineup? Assume Victor is in there.

PG
Patterson
Mays

SG
Blakeney
Heyward

SF
Sampson
Simms

PF
Victor
Reath

C
Reath
ER3

This is my best guess. I could be wrong
This team could surprise and be a bubble team. IF and only IF they play defense. I'm not concerned with scoring. Perimeter D has been awful under Jones..........just awful

Also, Sampson and Patterson can slide over to the 2 if needed. Victor, Reath, and ER3 on the floor together when we go big or need to matchup size.

We can go small and run as well. hopefully our shooters are consistent

ETA: my bad, I forgot about Jenkins

C
Reath
ER III

PF
Victor
Epps

SF
Jenkins (When he is able to return)
Sampson

SG
Blakeney
Hayward

PG
Mays
Patterson

Don't think Sims plays much, if he does, it'll be more as a PF against smaller teams...or as a relief to Sampson until Jenkins can play. I also dont think Bridgewater plays much at all either. He is just too short to play PF or C against anyone unless they play a 4 guard lineup. Very situational player...much like ER III, who also I dont think plays much unless we're playing a very tall tough physical center in a half court team. Basically a matchup only player.

Jenkins I have over Sampson because of his defense. He will be the shutdown matchup guard we need to stifle the "Best" guard on an opposing team. I hope he's able to return soon.

Epps at the 4, he's not a 4 really at all except size wise. We dont have any bigs though, so he needs to play there. With victor suspended we are dangerously terrible at the big man spot at the moment.

Mays over Patterson at PG. Honestly not a tough decision there. Patterson is really a 5'11 SG that can handle a ball "okay" - not really distribute at all. Mays is a distributor and that's what we need at PG. Do not be surprised if Marshall Graves actually logs some minutes at PG this season. We just dont have true PGs on this team outside of Mays.

I personally feel Mays will for sure start. Wouldn't be shocked to see a lineup of

Reath
Epps
Blakeney
Patterson
Mays

against Wofford. I think once everyone is healthy and eligible, it will be:

Reath
Victor
Blakeney
Jenkins
Mays

I cannot overstate enough how crucial Jenkins is. Remember a few years ago how good Charles Carmouche was for our team? Jenkins won't be able to shoot like that, but his athleticism and defense will be something we greatly need. Even more needed, he is going to bring a Chicago toughness that we have lacked. He also ran the Point some in Juco so I think he can play there (Johnny really doesn't want to use Patterson at PG).

I've said it for months, I really like our team. They're not world beaters or anything, but I think they will play hard and compete. I don't expect much, but I am rooting for them.

Branden Jenkins will be on of our best defenders. He will play a lot.

Honestly, for the first time in my life (and I'm over 50) that the basketball season has started and I'm so totally disengaged.

And we've had worse teams talent-wise, several of them, than this years bunch.

But last year so thoroughly and completely disappointed and disgusted me that I'm having a hard time coming around. And if an LSU hoops junkie like me can't come around interest will be sparse, even moreso than usual for this bunch.

Which is unfair for Blakeney who was probably the only kid on the team who busted his arse all year last year.

I wish them well, truly and hope CJJ proves me wrong...but I think he's already proved me right...this job is over his head and he IMHO has no chance to get it on track.
