I honestly think institutionalisation needs to become a thing again.

Not how it was in the 30's and 40's and what not, but we've swung too far the other way. There are too many chronically mentally ill people on the streets that shouldn't be.

We need to have a compassionate way of helping take care of them, but we need not do so at the expense of our general population

Oh it will definitely be at the expense of our general population. How else do you think it will be paid for?
