Then move. I dont even know what the guy looks like.
He shouldn't have to move from his home town because he tried to catch a foul ball at a baseball game. Christ...

Cubs fans needed to forgive him before winning it all. Red sox fans gave Buckner a standing ovation in 1990.

This.
Ship has sailed at this point. They treated him like crap that night and he was not the only person to try and go after the ball.
If he does, then he should ask for a hefty paycheck to come and throw the first pitch next season. Otherwise, give Chicago the old middle finger salute

I rooted against the Cubs due to the Bartman incident. But if he is still truly a fan, then I am glad they won it just for him.

I was just making a point that his life is not ruined.

Moises Alou overreacting and pointing right at him didn't help.

If it's true that he's gone to games then he has to look drastically different now. No way that someone wouldn't recognize him if he looked similar
Most Cubs fans probably couldn't have picked him out of a police lineup back then, let alone now after he's aged 13 years.
The only time anyone has ever seen this man (outside of friends, family and colleagues) is when he had a hat, glasses, turtleneck and headphones on.
There's no telling what he looks like.

Up until last night he was still the "villain." Still talked about 13 years later. All for doing what everyone always does in the stands of a major league baseball game when a foul ball comes their way. I'm sure he never set out to have to have fricking lawyer on his personal payroll for the rest of his life.

Crazy thing is, all articles I have read on the Bartman situation say the lawyer doing all this has done it for free.

That's fine. I'm sure before that night in 2003 Steve Bartman never thought he'd have to become a fricking recluse and have a lawyer keep him away from all things related to his lifelong favorite baseball team.

Think you have forgotten how bad that night was from the fan base.
Why were these fans spared?
I'm really glad you posted this.
In the first video, we see the very understandable anger focused on the at that time anonymous Cub fan Steve Bartman, as he was escorted from the stands. Yes, this was harsh treatment - but it was a idiotic action taken by him and other fans in his area. He just happens to be the schmuck who got a piece of a ball that was (in my opinion) on the border of the playing field.
The 2nd video shows the exact same situation, an idiot fan not letting his home team (assuming it is a Cub fan) make a play and get an out.
The RULE is stupid. If a player has a chance to catch a ball, it should be INTERFERENCE regardless of where the ball is. The only stipulation should be where the PLAYER is. In the Bartman case, I think it should have been a recorded out due to fan interference - and we would never know who Steve Bartman is.
In the 2nd video, it is a clear case of the media being the reason Steve Bartman went through hell. He should have NEVER been identified, just like the idiot in the 2nd video.
Blaming Cub fans in general is garbage, because if I met Bartman I would buy him a beer and have zero hostile feelings towards him. I honestly don't know a singe Cub fan who would feel any different.
This whole situation is so out of control that I really think it is the responsibility of the Chicago Cubs to really go out of their way to do something special for Steve Bartman. I know that they have reached out, but now that the ridiculous curse has been destroyed, the time is right for both parties.

If I were Theo Epstein, I would set Steve Bartman up with an OT10 supermodel with all expense paid trip to Hawaii or Jamaica for a week. All you can eat and drink. Let Steve have sex all week. Bring him to opening day 2017 and let him sing "take me Out to the ball game." Buy him his private suite where he can hang out with babes and party like Manziel. Do something nice for the guy.
