It has been reported that Ellis Johnson is taking over the DC position at Arkansas. This seems to be a good hire to me, but I'm by no means in-the-know on such issues.
What do you guys think? Good hire or not?

I'm not too sure about this guy. I am pretty ignorant towards assistant coaches though. I guess I here "Miss. St." and quiver with disappointment. Oh well. Petrino has forgotten more than I'll learn about coaching. I'll go with him on this one.

I think I would have quivered with disappointment when I heard Petrino was hired as head coach. Means you will have to hire another one in 1.8 years after he quits on you.

We're not expecting a "lifer" -- but we've been through all this so enough of that.

I think he did a good job for us but he DOES NOT recruit. I guess he's prolly thinkin about retirement pretty soon anyway. Oh, like in about, 1.8 years maybe.

The D made the difference in State. They came on strong against LSU. Ellis had some health problems at one time, but I cannot imagine him having a problem recruiting. Maybe it was the traveling. You need a person to evaluate the videos and compare the talent, so maybe he does that end.

Praise him up there DC, if he didn't come there he would be just another crappy coach right? Since he went to Arkansas, he must be the best there is. I dont care what you say, he's not a good recruiter. You say your last one didn't recruit either, I guess your right since we rolled up over 500 yards on ya'll with our lowly offense. Good luck to Ellis, I hope he enjoys the Arkansas hills. We'll find another good coach to take his place. All our assistants have pay raises coming also so that'll help a little too. You need not worry anyway, When Petrino bails in 2 years ya'll might can hire Ellis to be head coach.

Its all in good fun there DC. I'd prolly take Petrino for 2 years if I was lookin for a coach too. I'm just pickin at ya man, no hard feelins to you or Ark. We aint be able to give anybody chit in a long time, give me a lil lattitude man.

Mercboy, do you know your record against Arkansas? Against the SEC? I would be hard pressed to believe you have yet to earn the right to talk trash to anyone. You have lost 9 straight to Arkansas.
As far as Petrino, he was at Louisville for 4 years. That was his first HC job. He then went to the NFL and said "F this, I want back in college". I believe Saban and Spurrier did the same. So did Sherman and countless other coaches.
Did you want him to go back to Louisville? This is his 2nd college HC job since 2002. Give it a rest or know your facts.
