Can someone tell me about his style of Defense. Please tell me he is a send the house kind of guy. Not a 3 man rush a 4th down guy
.

I don't know. I can't remember watching one UCLA game this year.
It might happen. Les and Walker do have a connection: They both coached at Oklahoma State in 1995.

Is there no middle ground here? You either blitz everybody or drop everybody back?

No shite. And alot of people here who think blitzing every down is the end-all answer to successful defense forget what happens when you do, you can also give up the big play too.
But, you do have to rattle the Qb. When you can do that, it changes everything.

He's a pressure-oriented guy. They get a lotta sacks and TFLs. Wasn't all blitzing, but a lot of it was. But he stops the run first. Really, it's pretty much the same type of stuff GT does. I think we'd be lucky to get him.

Another connection is that our WR coach worked with him a year ago. I like the guy because he can recruit.

Don't follow UCLA closely, but I work with some Bruin yahoos and listen to the sportstalk shows out here. UCLA's defense has been the only thing worth a damn about the program recently.

only problem is that neuheisel is trying to get him to stay at ucla. I saw a few games this year and their d was not bad. Like the earlier poster said he stops the run first and foremost but does believe in sending guys to put pressure on the qb.

Walker would come here IMO rather than stay at UCLA.
His goal is to be a HC, it will happen much quicker here.
Plus factor in the raise and cost of living differences and he would get a big bump.

I'm not so sure abou that.

You don't think UCLA could match what we'd pay him? And I'd think quality of life is better in southern California than southern Louisiana. He may come here, but it just seems like a long way to move your family unless we were offering a ton more money.

Because he would be the DC on a top 5 program here versus a middle of the road PAC 10 team.

The probably could, but have shown no willingness to pay football coaches. Karl Dorrel complained about the challenges of getting and keeping assistants because with what UCLA paid they couldn't afford to live with in an hour and a half of campus.

Our current WR coach made the move.

I just looked it up Walker makes $360k at UCLA which is more than I would have guessed.
I then plugged that into a cost of living calculator. It is 41.1% cheaper to live in BR than LA. His $360K is equal to $212K here.
LINK
If we paid Walker $500K (which is reasonable), that is equal to $848K (which is what Dorrel made).
The money is significant, but the career opportunity is larger IMO.
Not a slam dunk, but I think he would seriously consider it.

There was a good bit of talk about Walker taking the HC position at UCLA as a fallback candidate. The Bruins fans all seem to like him.
I didn't know about his past with Miles. That's interesting. I have no idea if he would take the job at LSU, but he is very well thought of out here.

I'm assuming he'll get a raise if he stays. And he can get noticed at UCLA just as easy as LSU by the people that matter. I hope he comes. I love his resume. We'll see.
