I know people love this draft, but this franchise is not taking some 19 year old anyway. They are either gonna find another vet to trade the pick for or draft an upperclassman that goes off this year who won't be better than Vuc for 3-5 more years anyway

Again, We all see this from the outside. But you would be shocked by how delusional it is on the inside.

I really don't know how this thread has devolved into pro and anti draft. Nobody is looking to give away a top 10 pick. I proposed Top 18 protected this season, Lottery protected next season and becoming 2 2nds after that. Even if Vucevic had an immediate impact it's unlikely he makes the Pels a 6 seed or better. And if the Pels are a playoff team next year they do give up a 1st, but a 2018 post lottery 1st rounder isn't likely to be useful fast enough to help convince AD to stay.
I'm not looking to trade picks willy nilly, like I'd trade no pick for Monroe before I traded a pick for Noel/Okafor, and I want us to have assets in waiting in the event AD leaves. But it's starting to look like AD as David Robinson might not happen which means we need to be looking for a center to pair him with. Vucevic may not be a great rim protector but he is a good rebounder, which does help the defense, and he's versatile enough on offense to adjust to AD rather than AD needing to adjust to him like he would for Monroe.
