If you don't plan on carrying the gun, there is no reason to not get a full sized one.
Not necessarily a CC, but I would like to be able to. I don't think I have a need for a full frame gun
For example, Beretta 92 usually gonna have approx 4.8 inch barrel, CZ 75 has about the same (I think the barrel is slightly shorter, but the frame and slide layout remains about the same).
In comparison, my lone S&W 3rd gen pistol, the 915, has a 4 inch barrel. With the factory grips (flat backstrap), it's just about the same size as my CZ 82, which is a 9x18/.380 doublestack platform. You retain the 15 rd magazine, and Mecgar makes 17 rd flush fit mags.
My personal experience, if you go any smaller in 9mm, then the gun begins to get a little uncomfortable to shoot over extended sessions, and you lose that "all around" experience.

Something with a 4 inch barrel or less.
Main purpose would be truck gun so I don't want anything too big to maneuver around if a defense situation came up, but don't want anything so small that I lose comfort and accuracy.

HK VP9 has slightly over a 4" barrel, 15+1
Mine arrives today and can't wait to shoot it

I think the FNS9 is one of the most underrated guns on the market and is quite affordable. Got mine at Academy for $450 and it comes with 3 mags. You can probably find it cheaper online. It has a 17 round capacity and a 4" barrel. Has really good balance.

Bump
After taking into consideration all the advice here, I've decided on the XDM 4.5 9mm
It won't be a CC gun, but I've read that it can be done comfortably with the right holster
Thanks for all the help

Good luck.
You will probably be driven to buy a second gun after attempting to carry that comfortably but it's always dealer's choice when it comes to guns.

Yeah the 2nd probably won't be far behind, but I can't CC at work so it's not a huge consideration.
