Was going to make the trip down to GI on Saturday but we don't have a full day available anymore so just looking to fish closer to home Sat morning.
Any recommendations on locations to kayak fish on the north shore - either out of Mandeville or Slidell?
Tried here once without much luck. Water real shallow and grassy.

did really well on the tangi around amite a few weeks back
should be even better now with the water level dropped. spotted bass were turned on. with the high north winds i may make another float sat morning before the game. you would need a shuttle though

winds are going to be 25 mph straight out of the North on Saturday. Maybe CARR dr. is your only place to stand a chance to catch anything in a kayak

Never heard of Carr Dr. Just looked it up and looks like a good bet.
Are there spots to park and launch from? Just looked up the aerial. Any idea how deep that water is in that bigger pond?

OP, a lot of people put yaks in around bayou lacombe and the marsh around it. easy access down lake road or whatever goes to the mouth of the bayou.
not sure how the fishing is this time of year though. typically a great spot for reds, some specs, and lots of crabs.

I visit there a few times a year. I fished the Tchefuncte (sp) in Covington and got into some small spotted bass.
Looking to try the salt or some brackish. What about Lacombe Bayou, Fountainbleu state park, Bayou Cane?

geohagen canal/Rigolets marina- you may be able to find so refuge from the wind in the marsh nearby

We fish mostly salt.
The first time we used the kayaks we went down Bayou Cane and caught a few small bass.

I just moved to Slidell and am interested as well. Launched at Fort Pike and fished the Marsh south of there with no luck yesterday. Is there a place to put in besides the marina to access double bayou lagoon?

are you talking about Geoghegan canal?
Posted on 10/20/16 at 2:17 pm to meauxjeaux2
I think so. When I zoom in on Google maps it says double bayou lagoon. Was hoping there might by a place on the side of the road to launch to save some paddling.

i see the remains of a camp that looks good.

I'm pretty sure that's all camps and private lots. The marina is your best bet; paddling to that lagoon is worth the effort.
Warning: a buddy of mine lives there, watches with binoculars and will start fishing when he sees people catching.

I'll check it out early next week and report back. Any other good places to try? I hit big branch earlier in the week and the it seemed like freshwater based on my taste test. the Marsh just south of ft pike had good color just lots of grass and no fish.

I know a(usually) great spot for reds that is easy to access with a kayak if you're interested. It's close to carr dr. Don't really want to post it here if you want to email me.
