re: Inshore Spinning Combo Recommendations?

Posted by TJP on 10/23/25 at 6:05 pm to
I may splurge a little and get an ultegra and stradic from Japan. I ordered a stradic sw (japanese saragosa) this summer before the tariffs kicked in. Thinking about pairing them with Dobyns Maverick rods. Is anyone familiar with these? They seem to be priced well on amazon around $50-$60 down from around $100ish
Main use is trout fishing either popping cork or carolina rig with live shrimp or gulp. I mostly use baitcasters for fishing with artificial.

Inshore Spinning Combo Recommendations?

Posted by TJP on 10/21/25 at 8:04 pm
I am looking to pick up some new boat rods this Black Friday to replace some aging equipment. Does anyone have a good combo they can recommend? Any Black Friday deals leaked yet or maybe something from last year someone remembers. Budget $150-$200 all in for rod and reel.

Sierra.com has penn battle 2000 for $89. Thinking of pairing a couple of those with some falcon coastal or bucoo rods for another $100 or so.
Any specific areas north and west out of state to target? I am interested in making a DIY duck hunt somewhere in TX or OK
I was thinking $35-37k, just wanted other opinions. I know of a very similar boat that sold for $39k last winter with an etec on the back.
I put new simrad mfd’s in a couple of years ago. Both are 9” display. Also has a newer minn kota trolling motor. All of the pumps and lights are new but the main wiring itself is original. I installed a new jack plate a couple years back as well.

What is my boat worth? 2008 Triton 240LTS

Posted by TJP on 9/4/25 at 4:16 pm
I have a Triton 240lts I am thinking about selling to upgrade. Its got a verado 250 on it from the same year with about 900 hours. Its always been stored inside and is in pretty good shape for its age. I am trying to get an idea of what its worth, considering the market has shifted back towards a buyer’s market.

For everyone crying why should FEMA pay to raise people’s homes? The answer is because those homes are insured through the National Flood Insurance Program through FEMA. These homeowners are paying subsidized insurance for properties that are prone to flood. By FEMA issuing grants to raise houses, these homeowners can then buy flood insurance on the open market and likely never have a claim again. If FEMA does not issue a grant to raise their house, and it floods, the flood claim is likely greater than the cost to raise the house. It is much cheaper to raise a house one time than for FEMA to pay out on flood insurance claims every time it floods.
My 240 is a 2007 with the original 250 verado. I have not had very much trouble out of either. I agree with the other posters. Before Triton was bought out by Bass Pro, they were top notch. Earl Bents who was the owner at that time now makes Caymas boats, which is another quality brand. I have been 30+ miles offshore in mine on multiple occasions.
I have owned a Triton 240 since 2012. They are hard to beat in their class. The 220 is going to be very similar. It is a little heavier boat that rides smooth and dry in heavy chop. What year are you looking at?
What are the odds of being able to fly out of New Orleans and into Dallas Tuesday morning at 8am? I am thinking the odds are very low but curious what others have to say.

It’s not necessarily for a great cause, but I’m interested if you have any extra. TIA email redacted
I own a small AC company on the Northshore. Not sure where you are located but we can usually offer a great price on high efficiency equipment installs. We primarily sell Rheem which is the sister brand to your Ruud. You can look us up on Facebook, the name of our company is Eco Air.
If predicted 4-6ft surge in lake Pontchartrain holds with predicted 9" of rain, Slidell will see some flooding. There will be nowhere for the rainwater to drain.
Had a similar experience on the pearl this week. Thought it was a lot of ducks for August
Looking to go somewhere end of October. We really wanted to go to St. John, but they just completely shut down again. Our group has all gotten the virus and are over it. Would like to travel somewhere that the locals aren't blowing this thing out of proportion.

Where to apply for PPP loan?

I own a small AC company with my BIL. We have no employees. To my knowledge as an LLC we still should be eligible for 2.5x our monthly income from 2019 tax returns. When I filled out the application with Chase bank, who our business banking account is with, we were not approved due to not having any W-2 employees

It's out of stock there as well as every other online retailer I can find. Hoping there's a store out there or something that may still have 1

I know these have been discontinued, but does anyone know a place that might still have them? Or someone who has one they aren't using anymore they'd be willing to part ways with?
