I know it's been out many years, but I just started playing about a month ago. Anyone on here still play or have a advice for a newb?

Tank destroyers. I've found that choosing TD trees at least allows you to do damage when you're outmatched. You might get destroyed in a few hits but you can hit back, even with stock guns. My heavy tank tree progression takes forever because you're saddled with shite guns until you get deep in upgrades.

I've been moving along the Russian heavy line. KV1, KV1S, KV85 and IS. It is like you said a grind, but it's enjoyable.
Are you suggesting the TD is a quicker grind up the chain?
I tried running a scout line but hated it.

game can be frustrating
you have wide open shot, on their sweet spot, with one hell of a gun, and it bounces off. Yet, a peon tank is doing major damage, to my heavily armored tank, especially in spots where the armor is at its toughest.
it is a clear, pay to win. the exp, extra gold from their yearly pay service is a must, if you plan on playing a lot of.
Some really good tanks, you cannot get, w/o gold.

The xvm Odis modem mod tells you exactly what you get with.
I always laugh with some dude two tiers above my low levels tank is killing me with gold.

Yep a "free" pay to win/compete game. Was fun for a few days and that's it.

Sorry, I don't understand the relevance of smiling cartoon grapes in regards to advice for a "newb" in a computer game.

I remember getting my arse kicked, so don't have much to provide. Thought that was apparent

I second the tank destroyer advice. I've had several really good games with the Hetzer. I suck with the light and heavies though. My advice for mediums is to stick with a heavy and escort it (if it looks like they know what they're doing).

I reread my post and thought it may have been a bit brash - that wasn't my intention.
Now that you explained your post, it is obvious.
From this point forward smiling cartoon grapes denotes an arse-whipping.

I used to play a lot the past few years but I've gotten burnt out playing randoms and WarGaming killed Clan Wars/Strongholds so I don't bother with those that much either. Was in RELIC till it died then BULBA then back to RELIC after it was reformed.
Some general tips:
Keep an eye on your minimap as much as you can so you can know when you need to push/stay/leave/etc.
Use vision to your advantage as the random player in this game has no clue how the system works and you can easily manipulate in your favor
Look at the enemies team comp at the beginning of the game and then look at yours. If you're outnumbered greatly by heavies, probably a smart idea to avoid where heavies usually go (even in a heavy yourself because you'll just get swarmed) etc, etc.
Also I highly suggest watching streams/youtube vids of some of the better players in the game. I learned quite a bit myself from those.
If you have anything more specific such as tips in certain tanks, I'm more than happy to help.

Always always stay in cover from potential artillery hits. Angle your armor when fighting. Aim for the flattest areas on the tank. Stay with the other tanks and don't go alone.

I do recommend giving World of Warships a shot as well. Naval warfare is a nice change of pace.

I still play WoWs. Slower paced and seems to be more civil playerbase.
May want to hold off a till Monday 10/24 to recommend to new players. Today (10/19) the brand new Royal Navy line opened with cruiser class tree. Gonna be a lot of veteran players seal clubbing newbies for xp to advance.

I play WOT Blitz on my phone. The most fun I have is when I drive my PzIIj or KV-1.
My advice is to take your time leveling up in tiers too fast. Tiers 1-3 are full of people who are new to the game but it will let you learn the controls and map layouts. Skill level varies widely so it's a crapshoot as to who will be on your team.
Like others said, watch videos and read the forums. I really learned a lot in my PzIV-D. It has a good mix of capabilities. The T46 is almost too good and you'll pick up some bad habits in that tank but it's a blast. I'm currently focusing on the KV-1. I have the KV1S which is a lot like a TD when you use the biggest gun but I am getting the KV1 down before I do too many S missions.
