WWYD - Auto repair question / Rental car reimbursement

Drop off a vehicle for a pre scheduled (by dealership) transmission appointment last Wednesday. I inquired about a rental (dealer does not give loaners) and told that they would have to diagnose the issue first and see if I'm under warranty to cover the cost of the rental. I said that's fine I'm ok with taking that risk I need a rental.
Dealership calls rental agency and I get a rental. Had not heard anything from dealership so I call on Friday afternoon and am told that they still have not diagnosed the issue but I should be under warranty. Call again Tuesday morning and they say that they are working to diagnose the issue. Get a call this morning and am told that it is ready to pick up. It was under water to and I had zero out of pocket cost to repair the vehicle.
They tell me that they won't cover the rental because it was not booked in their system and I need to talk to the service person that booked me into the dealership. Of course he was not there (or was busy this mornging).
I go drop off the rental and they claim as well that since the car wasn't booked in "the dealers system" that I am on the hook for the cost.
I don't really care but it just pisses me off the way this whole thing went down. What would you do? I'm tempted to decline the charges on the rental and tell them to go after the dealership for the money.

What brand? Toyota? Honda? I would call their customer service...I would imagine if it was under warranty they would do something to keep any negative comments...If it is any other brand they will prob tell you to GTFO

Anything to do with fixing cars is always gonna be a pain in the arse.
It's not even worth getting mad and raising hell about it for me anymore.

This is definitely the option I would choose.

Most dealerships are driven by customer surveys. So make a complaint and they should cover it

Where would I make a complaint ?
I think I will decline the charges and never buy a jeep or deal with Bergeron Auto again. They are the absolute worst.

File complaints with the BBB.
Notify the local tv media. Maybe they will want to do an expose.....
My sister got jerked around years ago by a dealership in BR. She picketed the place for several days. Had a tv reporter friend show up and ask questions.
She got her car fixed immediately.

Call the service manager.

Why wouldn't you pay the rental company? They provided the service fair and square. Your beef is with the dealership. Get your money from them.

As someone that has worked in the industry before, go after the dealership. Call and schedule an appointment with the service manager and if that doesn't resolve it ask to speak to the GM as others have said. I would not advise disputing charges because part of the rental agreement says that if a third party is paying for your rental, you accept charges if they refuse payment. If you dispute there's a chance your account could be sent to collections and hit your credit. Dealer should either fix their system error, cut you a check, or take the charges off your bill with them.

Most if not all dealerships can and will make a loaner available if necassary. You must not be a good enough customer. Unless you drive a Kia
